Quiet Confidence: Headshots for Federal Workers

This fall, I’ve been busy with a steady stream of headshot sessions for federal workers who have been furloughed, let go or somewhere in between. It's been part of a special discount program I created to support government employees in the DC-Maryland-Virginia area who are unexpectedly facing a career shift.

This week, I had the chance to work with Beth, Danielle, and Maggie. None of them came in feeling particularly ready for the camera. Each one was understandably hesitant at first. We’re not used to seeing ourselves in professional photos, and most of us don’t love being in front of the lens. But something shifted during each session.

Beth and Danielle (2 and 3 below) had their makeup professionally done beforehand by Valerie Hammer Makeup Artistry, which gave them an extra boost of confidence. A little pampering goes a long way in helping you feel pulled together and camera-ready.

By the end, they weren’t just more relaxed…they stood a little taller, smiled with ease, and walked away with more confidence than they walked in with. That’s what I love about this work.

A good headshot isn’t about perfect lighting or poses. It’s about capturing who you are in the moment. And for these three, that meant a quiet confidence that grew stronger as the session went on.

If you’re a federal worker and you’ve been thinking about updating your headshots, now's a great time. The discount program is still available, and I’d love to help you create photos that reflect the next chapter of your career.
