Relaxed, In-Home and Studio Sessions Serving Maryland, DC & Northern Virginia

Those first few weeks with a new baby are a blur. You're figuring everything out, running on very little sleep, and somehow your whole world just shifted overnight. That's exactly why maryland newborn photography matters. It's not about perfect poses or a perfectly clean house. It's about remembering what it actually felt like to be in this moment.

A Relaxed Approach to Maryland Newborn Photography

My approach to Maryland newborn photography is simple and unhurried.

My approach to Maryland newborn photos is simple and relaxed. We can photograph in your home anywhere across Maryland, DC, or Northern Virginia, or use my Silver Spring studio if that feels easier. I’ll guide you through everything so you don’t have to overthink it. Your baby doesn’t need to sleep perfectly. Your toddler doesn’t need to cooperate. We work with what your family naturally gives us.

Presence over Perfection

Most of the families I work with are balancing a lot. They want beautiful newborn photos, but they don’t want the experience to feel like a production. My job is to keep things calm, efficient, and easy so you can focus on being present. The end result is a set of images that feel like your life, not a staged version of it.

Meet Your Maryland Newborn Photographer

Hey, I'm Ginny. I photograph families, babies, and small business owners across Maryland and the greater DMV area. I've been doing this for over a decade, and newborn sessions are one of the most meaningful parts of my work.

I'm not coming in expecting perfection. I'm walking into real life. As your Maryland newborn photographer, my role is to guide things gently, keep the energy calm, and make sure you feel comfortable from the start. I'll step in when you need direction and step back when you don't. Everything here is designed to feel natural and easy.

I have had the pleasure of working with Ginny since my first child was 6 months old, and she has been photographing our family each year since. Her photography is amazing, but what I appreciate most is that she really helps us to be comfortable and enjoy the experience, which results in some very genuine smiles. –Amy

Ginny was wonderful to work with and was very patient and accommodating at our photo session, during which our two-week old daughter had several "fussy" episodes. My husband and I are extremely pleased with how the photos turned out and definitely plan on working with Ginny again for future family and baby photos.

WHAT IS A “LIFESTYLE” SESSION

A lifestyle session captures natural moments of the baby and your family in your home.

This can be done at any point in the first few months, which allows a lot of flexibility in the timing and provides a little more personality to the photos!

I use areas in your home with good natural light (typically getting everyone on a bed works really well) or the nursery or living room.

I also have a studio space if you prefer not to use your home.

PREPARING YOUR HOME

We will want to use the space in your house with the most natural light- no need to straighten your whole house (!) but focus on those rooms with really good natural light from windows, glass doors, etc. The bedroom also works really well to get everyone sitting on the bed together!
I also have a neutral studio space if you prefer not to use your home!

WHAT TO WEAR

Feel free to have a few outfits for baby. Also just a swaddle can be simple and cute. Parents can focus on solid colors so the baby stands out! (no super busy patterns). Siblings can be in anything that compliments baby. Textures, layers and accessories all play well on camera. Here is a link to some ideas!
