Maryland newborn Photography
Relaxed, In-Home and Studio Sessions Serving Maryland, DC & Northern Virginia
Those first few weeks with a new baby are a blur. You're figuring everything out, running on very little sleep, and somehow your whole world just shifted overnight. That's exactly why Maryland newborn photography matters. It's not about perfect poses or a perfectly clean house. It's about remembering what it actually felt like to be in this moment.
My Approach to Maryland Newborn Photography
My approach to Maryland newborn photography is simple and unhurried.
My approach to Maryland newborn photos is simple and relaxed. We can photograph in your home anywhere across Maryland, DC, or Northern Virginia, or use my Silver Spring studio if that feels easier. I’ll guide you through everything so you don’t have to overthink it. Your baby doesn’t need to sleep perfectly. Your toddler doesn’t need to cooperate. We work with what your family naturally gives us.
Presence over Perfection
Most of the families I work with are balancing a lot. They want beautiful newborn photos, but they don’t want the experience to feel like a production. My job is to keep things calm, efficient, and easy so you can focus on being present. The end result is a set of images that feel like your life, not a staged version of it.

Meet Your Maryland Newborn Photographer
Hey, I'm Ginny. I photograph families, babies, and small business owners across Maryland and the greater DMV area. I've been doing this for over a decade, and newborn sessions are one of the most meaningful parts of my work.
I'm not coming in expecting perfection. I'm walking into real life. As your Maryland newborn photographer, my role is to guide things gently, keep the energy calm, and make sure you feel comfortable from the start. I'll step in when you need direction and step back when you don't. Everything here is designed to feel natural and easy.
“I have had the pleasure of working with Ginny since my first child was 6 months old, and she has been photographing our family each year since. Her photography is amazing, but what I appreciate most is that she really helps us to be comfortable and enjoy the experience, which results in some very genuine smiles.”

Preparing for Your Maryland Newborn Photography Session
Preparing your home for your session
Focus on the rooms with the most natural light from windows or glass doors. No need to tidy your whole house. A bedroom where everyone can sit together on the bed works especially well. And remember, my studio is always an option if you prefer a neutral backdrop.
What to wear for your session
A few outfit options for baby are great, but a simple swaddle can also be sweet and minimal. Parents look best in solid colors with no busy patterns so baby stands out. Siblings can wear anything that complements baby's look. Textures, layers, and simple accessories all photograph beautifully.

I fully understand how vulnerable these sweet babies are, so I am happy to take any precautions to make you most comfortable. I am happy to wear a mask for anything indoors if you prefer- just let me know! I will not be bringing any props or blankets, so please feel free to have anything ready you would like to use.

Sessions typically last an hour. Some are shorter, some are longer. The actual photos don’t take long, but we allow space and time for feeding, changing or calming the baby as we never know how they will be feeling that day! Patience is key.
-
Absolutely, but not in the studio. At home, hust be sure there is a place they can be for some photos without any furry friends.
