My Silver Spring studio makes the location part much easier. We can create relaxed, connected family photos indoors, then step right outside for natural light and greenery. You get two different looks in one session without driving anywhere else or turning the day into a production.

My approach to studio family photography is simple and relaxed.
You do not need to know how to pose, and your kids do not need to behave perfectly. I will guide you through everything, keep the session moving, and work with whatever energy your family brings.
The studio gives us a comfortable starting point with clean backgrounds and beautiful light. When everyone is ready, we can step outside for a second look with greenery and more room to move.

Hey, I’m Ginny. I photograph families, babies, and small business owners across Maryland and the greater DMV area. My photography studio is located in Silver Spring, Maryland, and I have been photographing families for more than a decade.
Family photos do not need to feel stiff or stressful. My role is to guide you, connect with your kids, and keep the session comfortable from the start.
I will step in when you need direction and give your family space when the best thing to do is let a moment unfold. The result is a gallery that feels polished, personal, and true to the people you love most.

What to Expect from Your Maryland Studio Family Photography Session
Relaxed, Guided Sessions
You do not need to know how to pose or what to do with your hands. I will guide you with simple direction while giving your family room to move, laugh, and interact naturally.
INDOOR OR OUTDOOR OPTIONS
We can photograph your full session inside the studio or combine studio portraits with outdoor photos. The greenery right outside makes it easy to add variety without changing locations or getting everyone back into the car.
Fast, Full Gallery Delivery
You will receive a full gallery of professionally edited digital images in an online gallery. I conservatively say two weeks, but galleries are usually delivered in about a week.
Before the Session
Once you book, I will send you a guide covering what to wear, what to bring, and how to prepare your family. We will also talk about whether you want studio-only photos or a combination of indoor and outdoor images.
You will know exactly where to go and what to expect before session day.
During the Session
We will begin by helping everyone settle in. I will guide you through a mix of full-family portraits, individual photos, parent/child connections, and sibling images.
Kids can move, play, warm up slowly, or take a quick break when needed. If we are combining indoor and outdoor photos, we will step outside when everyone is comfortable and ready for a change of scenery.
You do not have to manage the session. I’ve got it.
After the Session
You will receive a full online gallery of professionally edited photographs that you can download, print, and share.
Your gallery will include a mix of classic portraits and natural moments, along with both indoor and outdoor images if you choose the combination option.

Preparing for Your Maryland Studio Family Photography Session
Preparing Your Family for the Session
You do not need to practice smiles or give your kids a long list of instructions before you arrive. Let them know that you are coming to hang out, play, and take some pictures together. Please keep in mind that there will be bright flashes of light, especially if your child is very sensitive to light.
Bring water, a simple snack, and anything a younger child may need for a quick reset. I will handle the posing, pacing, and getting everyone comfortable.
If your child needs time to warm up, that is completely normal. We will work with them instead of expecting them to perform on command.
What to wear for your Studio Family Session
Choose clothing that feels comfortable and coordinates without matching exactly. Solid colors, simple patterns, layers, and interesting textures all photograph well. You may bring two outfits if you’d like some variety.
Since we may photograph both indoors and outside, choose outfits that work in both settings. You can also bring a second layer, jacket, or accessory to add variety without changing everyone’s entire outfit.

My studio is located in Silver Spring, Maryland, in the 20906 area. It is convenient for families coming from Montgomery County, Bethesda, Rockville, Washington, DC, and other parts of the DMV.

Yes. We can begin inside the studio and then step right outside for natural light and greenery. You get two different settings without driving to a second location.

Your session can still take place inside the studio. If the weather allows, we can step outside for a few images. If not, we can create a complete and varied gallery indoors.

To reserve your date, I will send you an online contract and invoice. A 50 percent nonrefundable retainer is due when you book. The remaining balance is due by your session date.
I will also ask for the names and ages of everyone being photographed so I can plan the session around your family.

Yes. The studio provides a comfortable, private space without the crowds and distractions of a public location. Kids can take time to warm up, move around, and have breaks when they need them.

Kids being kids is expected. They do not need to sit still, smile on command, or behave perfectly.

Full family sessions last up to 60 minutes. That gives us time to help everyone settle in, photograph several combinations, and move outside if you want both indoor and outdoor images.

Pets are not permitted inside the studio. If including your pet is important, an outdoor or at-home family session would be a better fit.
