Hi, I’m Ginny

Maryland Photographer

As a Maryland Photographer, I work with families, babies, and small business owners in Maryland and throughout DC and Northern Virginia.

Some people want to hold onto this season with their kids before it slips into the next one. Others just need photos that actually feel like them — not stiff, or overdone,

Either way, you don't have to come in with a plan. I'll guide you through it, on location or in my studio, whatever makes the most sense for you.

Lifestyle, Family, Newborn, & Maternity

Real life moments with zero pressure

Headshots, branding, & studio portraits

Professional photos that are completely you

Based in Silver Spring, Serving the Whole DMV

I offer two distinct ways to work together: heartfelt family photography that captures real connection, and strategic portraits for professionals who need imagery that actually works for them.

Whether you're planning a newborn session, updating family photos, refreshing your LinkedIn, or building a stronger visual brand, the experience is designed to feel low-stress and genuinely enjoyable with clear guidance every step of the way so you never have to wonder what to do next.

It’s About the Experience as Much as the Photos

What tends to bring people here is how the experience feels.

Everything is thoughtfully planned, but not rigid. You’ll be guided, but not overly posed. Organized, but relaxed. And dare I say, have fun at the same time?

During your session, I'm paying attention to the small things. The way your kid leans into you and the way you start to warm up to the idea of being photographed.

Why? Because those are the moments worth capturing.

“Ginny came by to take pictures of me and my daughter. I was a little nervous because my little one tends to tense up for the camera. Ginny was great, and my daughter took right to her, and was smiling and super happy. We had some great series.

When I got the pictures back, they were simply amazing, beautiful. I have so many great pictures of us smiling and laughing together. I would recommend Ginny 1000 times over!

She was the best!”

My Sessions are Guided and Relaxed

I’ll absolutely tell you what to do so you’re never standing there wondering what to do with your hands or whether you’re doing it right.

The goal is not perfection. It’s creating images that feel natural, confident, and genuinely like you.

With families… this usually means giving kids room to move, explore, play, and be themselves while I gently guide things in the background.

For headshots and branding, the approach shifts a bit, but the goal stays the same.

Most people do not walk in feeling instantly comfortable in front of a camera, and that’s completely normal. I’ll help with expression, posture, movement, and all the little adjustments that make a big difference so you look polished, approachable, and like yourself.

Your Maryland Photographer for Easy, Stress-Free Sessions

I've been doing this for over a decade, and the biggest thing I've learned is that people need someone who can lead, keep things moving, and make it feel manageable.

Most of the people I work with are juggling a lot: busy schedules, kids, careers, a million tabs open in their brain at all times. I get it. That's why I take the pressure off.

You don't need to know how to pose. You don't need perfect outfits. You don't need perfectly behaved kids. You just need to show up.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • After years of tracking the weather for sessions, it's never truly accurate until a few hours before. If rain is in the forecast, I ask what is the latest possible time we can make the call for a Plan B.

If at the agreed-upon time it still looks like rain, we can either move the session indoors to your home, or find a time to reschedule based on mutual availability.

  • The busiest seasons are spring and fall.

I recommend reaching out in Feb/March for spring sessions and July/August for fall sessions.

During the rest of the year 1-2 months in advance is recommended!

  • Try to avoid anything too "matchy-matchy". Think about complementary colors as opposed to matching colors. Alternate solids and prints.

Photos generally look the best when there is a nice blend of 2 or 3 colors among everyone. Layers, textures, and accessories all play well on camera. Neutral colors provide a timeless look. Wear something YOU are comfortable in- if you're not, it will come across.

  • Kids are going to be...kids!! I want to embrace their uniqueness and allow that to shine through the photos. There will probably be moments of giggles, some meltdowns, and flat-out frustration. And that is okay!

The key is to let go of control and embrace the moment. I try to keep the session moving by playing games and taking breaks as necessary. And you never know, those wild personalities photos maybe some of your favorites!

  • Yes! Your furry friends are welcome to join for outdoor or home locations! If we are not at your home, we need to make sure the location is dog friendly! It's helpful to bring treats as motivation to keep attention towards the camera!

If your dog is super energetic, we'll need a way to keep the dog occupied if you want some photos without them. Sometimes bringing a friend to watch the dog while you're taking photos can be helpful!

Due to allergies and equipment, I cannot have dogs in the studio.

  • You will receive a link via email to an online gallery where you can view and download your photos. You can share this link with friends and family. You can also order prints and cards directly from the gallery!

My turnaround time is 1-2 weeks.

  • Have you ever looked through your childhood photos and thought, “Ugh, I wish my mom had lost a few pounds before getting in the picture,” or, “Why are there so many pictures of me with my parents?” Of course not. You’re just happy those photos exist, right?

We’re all our own worst critics, but your kids don’t care about any of that. What they will care about is having real photos of themselves with you. Time is flying, and this chapter of your family’s story will be over before you know it.Item description
