We’re Working on Something New

There’s something we’ve been quietly building. It’s simple, but different. And we’re ready to start bringing it to life in the DMV.

There’s something Val and I have been talking about for a while now.

Not fully built.
Not fully defined.
But clear in how we want it to feel.

So we’re starting.

Not a typical session

This isn’t about creating perfect images.

It’s about capturing something real.

The way you are with someone you love.
Or the way you show up as yourself in this moment.

Less posing.
Less pressure to “get it right.”
More space to just be.

The kind of connection we’re drawn to

The relationships that don’t always get photographed.

Not because they aren’t important
but because they’re easy to overlook in the middle of everyday life.

The way you are together.
The way it feels.

That’s what we’re interested in.

What this could look like

It might be:

• you and your partner
• you and an aging parent
• you and your sister or best friend

Something meaningful.
Something that feels like it’s worth holding onto.

What you’ll receive

A full studio session in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Time to settle in.
Music playing.
Hair and makeup to help you feel like yourself, just a little more at ease.

And from there, we photograph what unfolds.

You’ll receive all of your digital images from the session.

What we ask

That you’re open.

Not perfectly comfortable.
Not experienced in front of the camera.

Just willing.

Willing to be guided.
Willing to try something a little different.

You’d also need to be available on a weekday and be okay with us capturing and sharing parts of the process as we build this out.

If this feels like you

Or if someone came to mind right away

We’d love to hear from you.

You can share a little about your connection below, apply through the link, or send this to someone who feels like a fit.

We’ll take it from there.

What Practicing Posing on Myself Taught Me (and Why It Matters for Your Photos)

What does it actually feel like to be in front of the camera? I practiced posing on myself and learned why simple guidance—like using triangles—can make all the difference.

There’s something humbling about getting in front of your own camera.

I recently spent some time doing test shots of myself. Not because I needed new photos, and not for content… but because I wanted to really understand what it feels like to be on the other side of the lens.

And it is not easy!

When You’re the One in Front of the Camera

The second the camera is pointed at you, everything shifts.

All of a sudden you’re wondering:

  • What do I do with my hands?

  • Am I standing weird?

  • Why does this feel so awkward?

Even as a photographer, I felt it.

That little bit of uncertainty.
That desire for someone to just say, “Here—do this.”

It was such a good reminder that most people don’t walk into a session knowing how to pose… and they shouldn’t have to.

The Small Shift That Changes Everything

As I worked through different poses, I learned about the power of Triangles.

Not in a technical, overcomplicated way. Just small, simple shifts:

  • Bending an arm instead of keeping it straight

  • Shifting weight to one hip

  • Creating a little space between your body and your arms

Those tiny adjustments create natural angles in the body… and suddenly everything feels more relaxed and looks more put together.

Not stiff.
Not overly posed.
Just guided.

Why This Matters for Your Session

My job isn’t just to take the photo. It’s to guide you through it.

Because when you’re standing there, it’s not about knowing what to do.
It’s about having someone show you in a way that feels easy and doable.

You don’t need to come in with a plan.
You don’t need to practice in the mirror.

You just get to show up.

What You Can Expect When You Work With Me

I’ll gently guide you the whole way through:

  • Simple direction that actually makes sense

  • Small adjustments that make a big difference

  • Space to move, breathe, and settle in

We’re not chasing perfection.
We’re creating photos that feel like you—just a little more intentional.

A Note From the Other Side of the Camera

Spending time in front of my own lens gave me a whole new level of empathy for what my clients experience.

And if you’ve ever thought:
“I’m awkward in photos”
“I don’t know how to pose”
“I just don’t feel comfortable in front of the camera”

You’re not alone.

But you also don’t have to figure it out by yourself.

That’s what I’m here for.

Looking for a session that feels easy, natural, and guided?
Whether it’s updated headshots, a branding session, or photos with your family, I’ll walk you through every step so you never feel like you’re guessing.
