Your baby is here and it's time for your lifestyle newborn session! I absolutely love these sessions because nothing is forced- it's all about capturing the pure sweetness of your little one at home with you in those first few weeks as you are getting acquainted!

A little secret: NO session is perfect. It will LOOK beautiful. But there may be crying. We may need to take a break. Your baby will probably do everything different just on that day- because somehow they know it's photo day!

But it's NORMAL and okay!

I purposefully build in time so we can break and feed or change, etc as needed. Babies are unpredictable and we embrace that! But no matter what we will get some sweet photos.

Here are some tips on how to prepare for your session:

1. SPACE

We will want to use the space in your house with the most natural light- so you can avoid trying to straighten your whole house (!) but focus on those rooms with really good natural light from windows, glass doors, etc. The bedroom also works really well to get everyone sitting on the bed together!

I also have a studio space that works great for lifestyle newborns if you’d prefer not to use your home.

2. WHAT TO WEAR

You can have a few outfits ready that we can change the baby in and out of. Also just a swaddle can be really cute. For parents I would suggest solid colors so the baby stands out! (no super busy patterns). Neutrals are a timeless choice. Textures, layers and accessories all play well on camera. We'll also try to get a few shots of the baby in just a diaper to capture those sweet baby rolls!

3. RELAX

Your baby can pick up on your stress, so go with the flow and don't try to force anything. If baby sleeps, we'll get some cute sleepy photos. If baby is awake, we'll capture those sweet eyes! Ideally we'll get a little bit of both, but the good news is your baby is cute either way! And that is what we will capture.
