As you probably know, I’ve been photographing families for a whillllle, and regardless of whether you are with me or another photographer, I’m pretty sure these are 5 tips any family photographer would want you to know!
Natural is Best
I love it when you’re just being YOU. Those candid moments when you’re laughing, hugging, or playing together are pure gold. Don’t stress about looking perfect or posing just right. The best shots are often the ones where you’re simply enjoying each other’s company.
Preparation Makes Perfect
A little prep goes a long way. Coordinate your outfits without being too matchy-matchy. Think complementary colors rather than identical outfits. Also, make sure everyone’s well-rested and fed before the session. Happy, comfortable kids (and adults) make for the best photos!
Trust the Process
Sometimes it might seem like things are a bit chaotic during the shoot—kids running around, a few meltdowns—but trust me, it’s all part of the magic. I’ve got a bag of tricks (and a ton of patience) to capture those perfect moments. Just relax and go with the flow.
Your Input is Golden
I love hearing your ideas! If there’s a particular shot you have in mind or a special location that means something to your family, let me know. Collaboration makes the experience more personal and the photos more meaningful. Plus, it’s fun to try new things together!
Embrace the Unexpected
Life happens, and sometimes the most memorable photos come from unplanned moments. Whether it's a sudden burst of laughter, an unexpected hug, or even a little chaos, these genuine moments often make the best memories. So, if things don’t go exactly as planned, just roll with it. Some of the best shots are the ones you never saw coming.
So, there you have it—my top five secrets! Remember, the best photos come from genuine moments and a relaxed atmosphere. Can’t wait to capture your beautiful family memories!
