What I Wish Every Family Knew Before Their Photo Session
This note was originally sent to my email list, but it felt important to share it here too. It’s for parents who feel stretched, behind, and unsure if they’re doing enough. A reminder that presence matters more than perfection, especially when it comes to family photos.
This note originally went out to my email list for january, but I wanted to share it here for my families in Montgomery County and across the DC DMV area.
If you’re looking for a family photographer in Montgomery County or the greater DC DMV area who values ease, connection, and real life over perfection, I’d love to talk. You can explore family and lifestyle sessions here, or join my email list to receive notes like this first.
Favorite Family Portraits of 2025 | Silver Spring MD Family Photographer
This isn’t a comprehensive list—if it were, this post would be an essay. But here’s a small sampling of favorite family portraits from 2025, highlighting connection, closeness, and real moments photographed in Silver Spring, MD and the DMV.
Every year, there are so many images that stay with me long after galleries are delivered. If I tried to include all of my favorite portraits from 2025, this post would turn into a very long essay.
So instead, here’s a small sampling.
These images reflect what I care most about as a family photographer in Silver Spring, MD - connection, ease, and the quiet moments that happen when families are simply together. No big performances. No forced smiles. Just real closeness, shared glances, and the kind of love that shows up naturally when people feel comfortable.
Most of these moments happened in familiar places: homes, studios, neighborhood parks, and locations throughout the DMV where families could relax and be themselves. That comfort always shows in the photos. Kids lead the way. Parents lean in. Everyone settles into who they already are.
This collection isn’t about perfection. It’s about presence. And it’s a reminder of why documenting families in a natural, honest way continues to be meaningful year after year.
If you’re looking for family photos that feel like you—rooted in real connection and photographed with care—I’d love to create something like this together.
Fall Mini Sessions Full of Smiles and Color
Mini session Saturday did not disappoint. The leaves were beautiful, the weather was kind, and every family brought their best smiles and energy.
Last Saturday’s fall mini sessions were such a joy. We had a perfect fall day with cool air, soft light, and leaves showing off all their color. I couldn’t have asked for better weather or better families.
Each session had its own little story. Some families I’ve known for years and others were new faces, but everyone showed up ready to laugh and have fun. The kids were full of energy, running around, climbing, giggling; and those in-between moments ended up being some of my favorites.
We kept things short and sweet, but somehow captured so much personality in that time. The mix of real smiles, silly moments, and quiet snuggles is what I love most about these mini sessions.
I left the day tired in the best way and with a camera full of genuine, happy faces. Can’t wait to share more from these beautiful sessions soon.
