Favorite Family Portraits of 2025 | Silver Spring MD Family Photographer

Every year, there are so many images that stay with me long after galleries are delivered. If I tried to include all of my favorite portraits from 2025, this post would turn into a very long essay.

So instead, here’s a small sampling.

These images reflect what I care most about as a family photographer in Silver Spring, MD - connection, ease, and the quiet moments that happen when families are simply together. No big performances. No forced smiles. Just real closeness, shared glances, and the kind of love that shows up naturally when people feel comfortable.

Most of these moments happened in familiar places: homes, studios, neighborhood parks, and locations throughout the DMV where families could relax and be themselves. That comfort always shows in the photos. Kids lead the way. Parents lean in. Everyone settles into who they already are.

This collection isn’t about perfection. It’s about presence. And it’s a reminder of why documenting families in a natural, honest way continues to be meaningful year after year.

Cherry Blossoms | Brookside Gardens, Maryland | Spring 2024

Today I took my little adventure buddy to see the cherry blossoms at Brookside Gardens after the rainy morning. Honestly, it was awesome. He loved running on the bridges, jumping on the rocks and is getting better at letting me take his photo! He loves the Children's Garden and getting to pretend to drive anything. . It was a quick afternoon out, but glad we did it!

Cherry Blossom Time! | Maryland

I absolutely LOVE cherry blossom season! These beautiful blooms are so iconic in the DC area and there’s always such a buzz this time of year! It is an early peak bloom this year, and while I love the beauty of these trees surrounding the Tidal Basin, I do NOT love the crowds, traffic, impossible parking and fighting to get photos. (plus the NPS requires permits for any commercial photography, so family sessions are not easy!)

The good news is cherry blossoms are not just at the Tidal Basin. I love exploring and finding blossoms nearby. These were at a local park here in Montgomery county. And this is a great tree locator to know where the trees are in Montgomery County (and this one for DC). The tricky part is they don’t all bloom at the same time, so I always want to check before planning session based on the map!
