Favorite Family Portraits of 2025 | Silver Spring MD Family Photographer

This isn’t a comprehensive list—if it were, this post would be an essay. But here’s a small sampling of favorite family portraits from 2025, highlighting connection, closeness, and real moments photographed in Silver Spring, MD and the DMV.

Every year, there are so many images that stay with me long after galleries are delivered. If I tried to include all of my favorite portraits from 2025, this post would turn into a very long essay.

So instead, here’s a small sampling.

These images reflect what I care most about as a family photographer in Silver Spring, MD - connection, ease, and the quiet moments that happen when families are simply together. No big performances. No forced smiles. Just real closeness, shared glances, and the kind of love that shows up naturally when people feel comfortable.

Most of these moments happened in familiar places: homes, studios, neighborhood parks, and locations throughout the DMV where families could relax and be themselves. That comfort always shows in the photos. Kids lead the way. Parents lean in. Everyone settles into who they already are.

This collection isn’t about perfection. It’s about presence. And it’s a reminder of why documenting families in a natural, honest way continues to be meaningful year after year.

If you’re looking for family photos that feel like you—rooted in real connection and photographed with care—I’d love to create something like this together.

A Family Getaway to OBX: Sun, Sand, and Sweet Memories

A relaxed recap of our recent family trip to the Outer Banks (OBX), filled with simple joys, beautiful sunrises, and a reminder of what makes these fleeting family moments so special.

We just got back from a week in the Outer Banks, and I wanted to share a few highlights while they’re still fresh—in my mind and in my camera roll. This wasn’t a work trip, but you know I can’t resist pulling the camera out when the light is that good and the kids are sandy and smiling (or at least mostly smiling).

We rented a house with 2 other families just steps from the beach, which meant salty hair, wet towels, and endless snacks on repeat. The kids were in heaven. Mornings were slow and easy and then off to the beach!

Sadly our days were cut a little short due to Hurricane Erin so we had 1 day in the house and then had to stick to the pool due to the high tide and beach restrictions. But we made the most of it!

Of course, I snapped a few photos here and there. Not posed, not polished. But real. Wind-blown hair, sandy toes, mid-laugh. These are the photos I treasure the most. The ones that feel like the trip, not just a highlight reel.

Already dreaming of next summer.
