Ranch running

While there are countless things I love about my annual pilgrimage to the beloved Triangle X Ranch, one of my most treasured times is my morning run.   Mornings are just. the. best.

I have always loved mornings- watching the world wake up, having space and time and quiet to myself- but it's on a whole other level out west with the grand display of light as the sun rises turns the mountains from gray to pink to blue.  The air is cool and crisp and truly the best way to wake up!

The horses are usually coming at this time so it's always a treat to watch them run up the driveway in all their grandness.

The last day at the ranch my sister joined me for some of the fun and her husband Phil captured a few fun photos.  While they will never truly capture the experience, it's a nice reminder of such a sacred time and space.

New York, New York!

I had an absolutely wonderful weekend in New York City (courtesy of a wonderful guy!!) and saw "An American in Paris" as an extended birthday treat!  The ballet and dancing were stunning and I had such an appreciation for it after taking ballet this past year! We also braved the heat to walk "the High Line" and had some delicious brunch at "The Marshal" and "44 1/2" in the Hell's Kitchen area. (yum) Both great spots if you're hitting the Big Apple!  Loved NYC, but always nice to come home to DC...:)
